Abstract

Background: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is a prevalent inflammatory condition affecting the upper respiratory tract, often associated with immune dysregulation. Homoeopathic interventions like constitutional medicines are generally used in their management. Objective: This case study evaluates the clinical effectiveness of Homoeopathic Constitutional medicines in managing the recurring symptoms of allergic rhinitis, and reducing immunomarkers in blood. Methods: The study case was selected from the Outpatient wing of the Materia Medica Department. The patient was given Constitutional treatment, and medicine was administered based on Homoeopathic principles. Primary outcome measures included symptom relief, assessed by the time taken for improvement, by measuring the Total Nasal Symptom Score (TNSS),  and changes in immune markers like serum Immunoglobulin E (IgE), Absolute Eosinophil Count (AEC). Results: The average time to get immediate symptomatic relief based on TNSS was around 6 days for this constitutional case.  Conclusion: The study concludes that Constitutional prescribing takes a longer time to alleviate immediate symptoms, as it may have a deeper impact on the underlying allergic or inflammatory pathology, and these constitutional medicines show a marked reduction in immune markers (IgE and AEC) and thus reducing the recurrence.

Key Words:- Allergic Rhinitis; Constitutional medicine, Immunoglobulin E, Absolute Eosinophil Count.
