Author Guidelines – Journal of Advanced Homoeopathic Studies (JAHS)

The Journal of Advanced Homoeopathic Studies (JAHS) is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed quarterly journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research in homoeopathy, integrative medicine, and allied health sciences. To maintain international indexing standards (Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science), authors must carefully follow these guidelines.


1. General Requirements

  • Language: Manuscripts must be submitted in English, written in clear, grammatically correct, and precise style.

  • Originality: Submissions must be original, unpublished work, not under review elsewhere.

  • Plagiarism Certificate:

    • All authors are required to submit/upload a plagiarism certificate generated by standard academic plagiarism detection software (Turnitin, iThenticate, URKUND, etc.) along with the manuscript.

    • The similarity index must be ≤15% (excluding references, quotations, and methods).

    • Manuscripts exceeding this limit will be returned without review.

  • Plagiarism Screening: The editorial office will independently verify originality using Turnitin/iThenticate. Any evidence of fabrication, falsification, or duplication will lead to immediate rejection and may be reported to the authors’ institution.

  • Formatting:

    • File type: Microsoft Word (.doc/.docx).

    • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point, double-spaced.

    • Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides.

    • Include continuous page numbers and line numbers.

  • Word Count (excluding references, tables, figures, and abstract):

    • Original Research: ≤ 4000 words

    • Systematic Reviews/Meta-analyses: ≤ 5000 words

    • Case Reports: ≤ 2500 words

    • Short Communications: ≤ 2000 words

    • Review Articles: ≤ 4500 words

    • Letters to the Editor: ≤ 1000 words


2. Manuscript Structure

All manuscripts must follow the IMRAD format (Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion), with modifications as appropriate.

2.1 Title Page

  • Full manuscript title (concise, informative, ≤20 words).

  • Running title (≤50 characters).

  • Author names, institutional affiliations, and ORCID IDs.

  • Corresponding author details: full address, email, phone number.

  • Funding, acknowledgements, and conflict of interest statement.

2.2 Abstract & Keywords

  • Structured abstract (250–300 words).

    • Original Research: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion.

    • Systematic Review/Meta-analysis: Background, Methods (search strategy, databases), Results, Conclusion.

    • Case Reports: Background, Case Description, Intervention, Outcome, Conclusion.

  • Keywords: 3–6 terms, preferably MeSH terms.

2.3 Main Text

  • Introduction: Background, knowledge gap, study objectives.

  • Methods: Detailed methodology, reproducible, including study design, participants, interventions, outcomes, data collection, statistical methods, and ethical approval.

  • Results: Clear and concise; supported by tables/figures. Avoid repeating data in text and tables.

  • Discussion: Interpretation of results, comparison with literature, strengths, limitations, and future directions.

  • Conclusion: Brief summary of main findings and implications.

2.4 References

  • Use Vancouver style (ICMJE Uniform Requirements).

  • Number references consecutively in the text using square brackets [ ].

  • Provide complete details; include DOIs when available.


3. EQUATOR Network Reporting Standards ( https://www.equator-network.org/reporting-guidelines/ )

To ensure transparency and reproducibility, all manuscripts must comply with the EQUATOR Network guidelines for the respective study type. A completed checklist must be uploaded with submission.

4. Tables, Figures, and Illustrations

  • Tables: Number consecutively, provide a short descriptive title above and explanatory notes below.

  • Figures/Images:

    • Must be high-resolution (≥300 dpi).

    • Acceptable formats: JPEG, PNG, TIFF.

    • Provide figure legends beneath each image.

    • Clinical photographs must ensure patient anonymity or include written consent.

  • Graphs/Charts: Use simple, clear formats; avoid unnecessary 3D effects.


5. Ethical Considerations

  • Human Research: Must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and obtain ethics committee approval. Provide approval reference number in Methods.

  • Animal Research: Must comply with ARRIVE guidelines and obtain institutional animal ethics approval.

  • Informed Consent: Required for all clinical studies and case reports. Written consent forms must be available upon request.

  • Trial Registration: Clinical trials must be registered in recognized public registries (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov, CTRI).


6. Conflict of Interest & Funding Disclosure

  • Authors must disclose all potential conflicts of interest (financial and non-financial).

  • All sources of funding, grants, or institutional support must be clearly acknowledged.


7. Authorship Criteria

  • Authorship must follow ICMJE recommendations.

  • Each author must meet all four criteria:

    1. Substantial contributions to conception/design, data acquisition, or analysis.

    2. Drafting or critically revising the manuscript.

    3. Final approval of the version to be published.

    4. Accountability for accuracy and integrity of the work.

  • Contributors not meeting these criteria should be acknowledged separately.


8. Peer Review Process

  • Initial editorial screening for scope, quality, originality, and compliance.

  • Plagiarism check using Turnitin/iThenticate.

  • Double-blind peer review by at least two independent experts.

  • Editorial decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.


9. Open Access Policy

JAHS provides immediate open access under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), permitting unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction, provided the original work is cited.

10. Article Processing Charges (APC)

  • JAHS currently operates as a platinum open-access journal (no APCs).

  • If APCs are introduced in future, details will be announced on the journal website.
